Adoption Diligence for Health Innovation

Adoption Diligence for Health InnovationAdoption Diligence for Health InnovationAdoption Diligence for Health Innovation

Anticipating system effects.  Simulating clinical governance.

The Innovation Paradox

Think Precision Healthcare exists to help senior leaders address the following paradox that limits real-world progress in health systems.

Demand for health innovation is rising rapidly as health systems become increasingly stretched. Yet the more innovation is needed, the harder it becomes to introduce safely and at pace.

Health systems must constantly make complex decisions about new technologies, treatments and programmes. These decisions affect patient safety, service delivery, workforce capacity, public finances and wider system performance.

However, the wider system consequences of innovation, and the conditions required for safe adoption, are rarely made explicit before commitments are made.

The opportunity lies in surfacing system adoption risks, benefits and conditions early, and testing how the system would respond before commitments are made.

This is the discipline of Health System Adoption Diligence.

A Practice Arena for Health Innovation

Every discipline that affects human safety needs a practice arena for navigating complex decision environments.

Aviation has flight simulation.

Health innovation now has the Clinical Board Simulation.

A structured governance environment in which to test how an innovation would be received if presented for adoption today.

A place to determine whether, and how, the system can align to allow safe adoption in real health systems.

Independent System Impact Assessment

Think Precision Healthcare is an independent specialist practice providing adoption diligence for health innovation.

Our Independent System Impact Assessment provides governance-grade adoption diligence for high-stakes innovation decisions.

Core mechanism

At the centre of this work is the Clinical Board Simulation.  A structured governance environment in which an innovation is examined as if presented for adoption today.

Senior clinical and system leaders challenge and test the proposal from multiple real-world perspectives. This provides a realistic view of how the system is likely to respond before commitments are made.

Analytical discipline

Structured system analysis supports the simulation.  This examines how new products, technologies or programmes interact with workforce, pathways, diagnostics, governance, finance and system performance.

Together, the analysis and simulation clarify whether, and under what conditions, the system can align to allow safe and sustainable adoption.

Positioning

Where Health Technology Assessment evaluates clinical and economic value, this work evaluates real-world adoption conditions across the health system.

The aim is not to advocate for adoption, but to ensure decisions are taken with full visibility of system consequences, adoption risks and the conditions required for success.

Central question

Our time-bounded, senior-level work is focused on one central question:

Can the system align around this innovation?

What are the anticipated system effects, and what do they mean for safe and credible adoption?

Outputs

Each assessment provides decision-grade insight into:

  • system ripple effects and unintended consequences
  • points of fragility, pressure, risk and opportunity
  • minimum conditions required for safe and credible adoption
  • whether to proceed, pause, redesign or stop, and why

This is not programme delivery, transformation consulting or capacity provision.

Rather, it is independent, governance-grade system insight applied early to support judgement under uncertainty while credible options remain.

Our Approach & Leadership

Independent assessment grounded in real-world system leadership

Think Precision Healthcare provides structured consequence analysis informed by lived experience of leading complex health systems under pressure.

The work is led by Denise Calder, a system leader with more than two decades of experience across UK healthcare, life sciences, research, policy and patient and public involvement.

During this time, Denise has held senior responsibility for governance, strategy and all aspects of operational service delivery across complex systems, alongside responsibility for the work and outputs of expert government committees.

Denise therefore serves as Think Precision Healthcare’s Senior Responsible Officer, supported by a multidisciplinary team of experts.

Together, they form the Clinical Board: senior leaders in their respective fields of clinical service delivery.

This approach provides clients with a realistic practice environment in which innovations are subjected, at an early stage, to the rigour of clinical governance.

The Value of Independence

Independence means maintaining neutrality when surfacing likely real-world consequences across the system, informed by the perspectives of relevant stakeholders.

Think Precision Healthcare works for patient benefit, irrespective of who funds the question, assessing innovations against the realities and obligations of the public health system in line with its published Code of Ethics.

Across sectors, Think Precision provides impartial, decision-grade system insight under uncertainty, particularly where interests diverge and consequences are significant.
